This week our Spotlight shines on Mrs. Wade and Ms. Corrie, part of our 2nd Grade Team!

This map will be helpful for families who are coming to the Awards Ceremony for the Social Studies Fair on Monday. Allow yourself about 5-10 minutes to walk across campus after parking (WLU may have golf carts available to help transport). Students will be bussed to WLU, leaving Steenrod at 9:00.
Students will have lunch provided by West Liberty University. Please email Mrs. Dietrich with any questions, mdietric@k12.wv.us.

West Liberty University is providing lunch for all students in the cafeteria! You will not need to bring your backpack to school, only items you will need for the Science Fair.
Parents, there is no transportation back to Steenrod after the awards which begin at 1:00 p.m. in the ASRC.

As we know too well, there is a possibility that some of these dates/events may change, but as of today, January 17, this is what we are hoping for!
We will keep the 100th Day of School recognition on Friday Jan. 31 no matter what (as long as we are in school on that date!)

COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR PARTICIPATION!
All students who have presented at their school science fair are able to participate at the County Fair, but they MUST be registered by January 20! Parents are responsible for registering projects Additional information is on the WLU website.

This week our spotlight shines on Mrs. Kiediasch and Ms. Trish, one of our first grade teams.

We've boxed up for donation many left behind hoodies and sweatshirts that have been on our lost and found table for awhile. The items pictured here are coats that were left behind right before break, and surprisingly, a matched pair of gloves (usually we find solo gloves or mittens). Please comment or email Mrs. Dietrich, mdietric@k12.wv.us, if they belong to your child.

This is an instructional league for 4th/5th grade Ohio County Schools Students. It will be at the Highlands Sports complex on Fridays in the month of February. Once teams are selected your team will be assigned one of the courts and time slots, either 5:30 or 7:00, each Friday. On these dates we will have 30 minutes on the court for teaching followed by a game that will be approximately 40-50 minutes. January 13th is the last day to sign up.

Make sure to look at the forecast each day and send your child with outerwear that will keep them comfortable outside.

Finding time to work out during the holidays can be tricky, but doing just 20 – 30 minutes of daily physical activity can have a major impact on your outlook and overall wellbeing. Exercise affects both the body and mind, improving strength, bone density, and balance while reducing stress levels and sharpening focus and mental acuity. And you don’t need to spend hours in the gym to reap these benefits. https://www.mondaycampaigns.org/move-it-monday/find-the-time-to-fit-in-fitness?utm_source=Healthy+Monday&utm_campaign=8edd2b1902-HM_2024_12_16&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-12814a6ec2-67734208

Having a full life is a blessing but it can also be stressful. You’re not alone: two-thirds of Americans are stressed out! According to the American Psychological Society, money and work top the list for stress triggers – and even a single late night can throw sleep patterns into a flap. We’ve all been there. Fortunately for us, scientists, researchers, and doctors are intent on studying and unlocking the patterns of stress. There’s plenty of good information available that can help us to effectively reduce stress levels and have better, fuller lives.
