This week our spotlight shines on Mrs. Kiediasch and Ms. Trish, one of our first grade teams.

We've boxed up for donation many left behind hoodies and sweatshirts that have been on our lost and found table for awhile. The items pictured here are coats that were left behind right before break, and surprisingly, a matched pair of gloves (usually we find solo gloves or mittens). Please comment or email Mrs. Dietrich, mdietric@k12.wv.us, if they belong to your child.

This is an instructional league for 4th/5th grade Ohio County Schools Students. It will be at the Highlands Sports complex on Fridays in the month of February. Once teams are selected your team will be assigned one of the courts and time slots, either 5:30 or 7:00, each Friday. On these dates we will have 30 minutes on the court for teaching followed by a game that will be approximately 40-50 minutes. January 13th is the last day to sign up.

Make sure to look at the forecast each day and send your child with outerwear that will keep them comfortable outside.

Finding time to work out during the holidays can be tricky, but doing just 20 – 30 minutes of daily physical activity can have a major impact on your outlook and overall wellbeing. Exercise affects both the body and mind, improving strength, bone density, and balance while reducing stress levels and sharpening focus and mental acuity. And you don’t need to spend hours in the gym to reap these benefits. https://www.mondaycampaigns.org/move-it-monday/find-the-time-to-fit-in-fitness?utm_source=Healthy+Monday&utm_campaign=8edd2b1902-HM_2024_12_16&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-12814a6ec2-67734208

Having a full life is a blessing but it can also be stressful. You’re not alone: two-thirds of Americans are stressed out! According to the American Psychological Society, money and work top the list for stress triggers – and even a single late night can throw sleep patterns into a flap. We’ve all been there. Fortunately for us, scientists, researchers, and doctors are intent on studying and unlocking the patterns of stress. There’s plenty of good information available that can help us to effectively reduce stress levels and have better, fuller lives.

The holiday season makes exercising a bit more difficult: it’s cold, you’re busy, there’s cookies everywhere…but that doesn’t mean you need to abandon your fitness routine. In fact, there are many ways to stay active during the holidays that don’t involve going outside at all.
A home workout is a great way to involve your family and friends. This Monday, learn all the different ways you can work out indoors with our list of low-impact exercise ideas appropriate for all ages and ability levels. https://www.mondaycampaigns.org/move-it-monday/5-easy-ways-to-take-your-move-it-monday-exercises-indoors?utm_source=Healthy+Monday&utm_campaign=90d6c7be7f-HM_2024_12_2&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-12814a6ec2-67734208

This week, we are shining a spotlight on our PreK Instructional Team, Ms. Beth, Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Melanie!

Take a minute to read through and mark dates on your calendar!

Researchers have found doing vigorous exercise can increase metabolic rates for as much as 14 hours afterward, which means you’ll still be burning calories long after you fit in a workout.
Use Monday to fit in quick workouts while spending quality time with your family and friends. It will pay off by alleviating stress and enhancing your mental well-being. Happy Thanksgiving!
