As a parent or caregiver, it is very important for you to be askable. What does that mean? How do adults become askable? To be askable means that young people see you as approachable and open to questions. Being askable about sexuality is something that most parents and caregivers want but that many find very difficult.
Being askable is important. Adults may worry about:Not knowing the right words or the right answers; giving too much or too little information; or giving information at the wrong time.
Join us on Thursday, April 25 as Jami Robinson from the Ohio County Family Resource Network unpacks this challenging topic with parents.
Please fill out the form if you will need childcare!

The lesson to appreciate what you have and work for what you want was delivered in such an entertaining way! Ask your children what happened when Andy was going to chop down the tree. #ArtsinOCS #OneCounty #OhioCounty

It looks like we'll have a full week back, with quite a few rescheduled events. Please contact your child's teacher or the school office with any questions. As a reminder, the county is allowing parents to opt for an early dismissal. Any student present for a half day will count as a full day. Half day attendance for Steenrod is until 11:45 a.m. Absences and early dismissals still require notes.

It's Teacher of the Year and Service Personnel of the Year recognition time!
Every year, our staff members nominate one of their own to celebrate and thank for their hard work and dedication to education. At Steenrod, it is difficult to choose just ONE outstanding person to recognize in each category, but these two rose to the top.
Mrs. Lindsey Perry has been teaching at Steenrod as a 3rd grade teacher for over 10 years. She is focused on developing her skills as a lifelong learner as she recently completed her Masters Degree in Education. Her skills as a thorough educator are evident as she develops lessons that engage students and dive deep into the standards. Mrs. Perry is also wholly committed to the Steenrod community as she serves on several school committees and volunteers for family engagement events.
Ms. Charity Parsons has been serving as an Instructional Aide at Steenrod for 6 years, working as a Kindergarten aide for 3 years. Ms. Charity brings an infectious joy and positive attitude to the school, as well as a willingness to help wherever she is needed.
We are grateful to these two ladies for sharing their passion for education with our students!

STEAM Night was a fantastic event! We were Scientists, Techies, Engineers, Artists and Mathematicians! Thank you to ALL of our staff who helped, along with OCS Innovation and West Liberty University. We had an amazing night!

We've got a busy week! We hope to see you on Wednesday for our STEAM Night. We'll start with a brief PTA meeting in the gym followed by a musical performance by K-3rd grade, and then the activities will begin! You can CHOOSE TO BE a Scientist, Techie, Engineer, Artist and Mathematician!

Saturday Scholars was a huge success with over 100 students attending! Thank you PTA, especially our coordinator, Lewis Honaker, and all of our parent, teacher and community volunteers!

Congratulations to these authors! McKenna and Liam are both recognized as winners of the Ohio County Schools Young Writers Contest! McKenna won 1st place and Liam won 3rd! We are so proud of them and grateful to Ms. Hohman for encouraging them to share their creative talents.
