The Academic Fair at Steenrod today was a fantastic experience for our students as they finally got to present about a topic that interested them! Thank you to our judges who gave their time this morning to listen to the amazing presentations and make the difficult decision to choose the winning projects.

The West Virginia Leaders of Numeracy Educator Network includes Mrs. Daugherty and Mrs. Wade. Both teachers signed up for this initiative with the goal of learning to enhance their mathematical content knowledge and pedagogy. They participate in virtual meetings, attend trainings on select Saturdays, build units of instruction, and will prepare and lead professional learning sessions in Ohio County. This past week, they introduced a thinking activity which engaged their students in collaborative work and problem solving. Steenrod is lucky to have these two wonderful teachers!

Kindergarten is busy today working on holiday crafts! Thank you teachers and parents for making the time during this busy season to make it magical for our students!

This yearly tradition for fourth grade combines community service, math and a night at Target! They started collecting money in November, collaborating with one another to create a shopping list and stay in budget to purchase gifts for two children through the Salvation Army. Thanks to their teachers Ms. Hohman and Ms. Craig for coordinating.

Few things in life match the magic of an elementary Holiday Concert. The spirit of the season is wondrous ❤️🎄thank you Dr. Day for the gift of music 🎶

We held our whole school rehearsal today and we can guarantee a magical winter concert! See you on Monday!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at West Liberty University was a fantastic performance!

Three of our students were invited to sing at the Symphony on Ice this evening. They were fabulous while rehearsing!! Thank you Dr. Day for coordinating plans!

Mrs Griffin met with student council today to discuss nutrition standards and how she uses them to guide school breakfast and lunch options.

Happening this Saturday, Dec 2 at 2:00 pm.

The gingerbread boys and girls were on the run in the school today! This Kindergarten tradition brings so much wonder and cherished memories to our students ❤️

Third grade is starting Wit and Wisdom Module 2 with a bang! Having so much fun with our new space theme with flashlight reading! We are exploring constellations, the black hole, astronauts, and NASA.

Wishing all of our families and the Steenrod community a very Happy Thanksgiving!

If your schedule allows, consider joining us for either LSIC or Health and Wellness. Contact Mrs. Dietrich if you have questions!

Join us! Books and Bingo Night starts at 6:00 p.m. in the gym with a brief PTA meeting followed by our big reveal of the Masked Readers! After that, stay for books, bingo and prizes. The big basket will be the prize at the final bingo game. Pizza and water will be sold. We can't wait to spend some time with our fabulous families!

Students are off tomorrow as we remember and give thanks to our veterans. Today's Veterans Day assembly was a special way to honor these brave men and women and thank them for their service. Sgt. Andrea Gump spoke to our students about the military and her experiences, and we were happy to have Jacob and Jimmy's mom on hand to livestream the program to their dad who is currently deployed.
